[Hawke's face comes into view briefly as she turns on the Omni-tool, though it's clear she's distracted with someone near her. Whoever it is, they seem to be whining and keening, and Hawke's trying to comfort her.]

Easy, easy. I have you.

[She turns her gaze back to the device.]

We have a bit of a problem down in the Zeta District, if you care to notice. Or have heard. Whichever. [She tosses her head briefly, that bit of hair resting between her eyes flopping to the side.] There are things down here trying to kill people. Not very nice of them, actually.

[The woman with Hawke starts up again and she turns her gaze to the side.]

A moment, please.

[The video feed goes dark as something bright and blue erupts in the background. It's less than five minutes later when Hawke turns the tool back on and she gives the video feed an odd look. The woman with her is quiet now, still there. She aims the tool in the direction of the adjutant near them, crumpled and destroyed by Hawke's magic.]

Could someone tell me what in the unholy Void those things are?

If anyone is getting this who came off the shuttles, you have to listen to me.

[Shepard breaks off momentarily to look around the corner she's taken behind, and is rewarded for her efforts by nearly getting blasted in the face.

she's not bothering with introductions this time, and why should she? she's clearly in a combat zone. the sounds of fighting and dying compose the delightful soundtrack to this message. she's in state herself; full armor minus helmet, dirt and blood caking her face. couple that with her ferocious expression, and she can be a bit intimidating, even over vidlink.]

These are called adjutants. I won't bore you with a lecture about what they are beyond that-- [the reason why not made abundantly clear when she's shot at and is forced to duck down from flying bits of wall] --all you have to know is to keep them as far away from you as possible.

They don't want to kill you, they want to turn you into one of them. They do this by attacking you, causing injury, fluids exchange...it doesn't really matter. It happens when they get too close, and there's no going back. Keep them at a distance. If you can't fight, hunker down, locks the doors, let someone know where you are- If you can fight, I hope you can protect others as well as yourself! There's a small safe area here- [coordinates for an abandoned warehouse in the middle of Zeta, hopefully with enough space to take in a large amount of people], get yourself or others to it, and make a bigger perimeter if you can. Find and make other safe areas if you can't, keep us posted.

[the view swings downward suddenly and violently as Shepard finally pulls out of cover to take a few shots, before the feed cuts.]



[ooc: Shepard's going to try to round up non-combatants and set up safe zones, help people in trouble, take down the gross dudes, looking for survivors in locked homes... she'll need help getting into damaged areas (calling techie people!), fighting huge clusters of adjutants (calling fightie people!), and herding (heh) people to safety (calling support people!). so, he's missed the part about zeta district being quarantined until just now, and he can't say he likes the look of what the hell is going on out there. he's seen these things before - because uh, didn't we just have to deal with this? come on! but it doesn't surprise him to see that here are still some stragglers left behind.

he peers into his omni-tool with one eyebrow raised, a very unimpressed expression sliding across his face.] So, I dunno about you guys, but I think I'm gonna stay inside for this one. It looks like it's raining bullets and damn if I didn't forget my bulletproof galoshes.

[pause.] I thought we got rid of all these things. Hey, either of you Shepards - what the hell's the deal?

[From the moment Kengo figures out what's going on in Zeta District and gets information from various sources -- other messages on the network or things he hears in passing while out on the field -- he's intent on being the voice of warning to everyone else. While an initial message goes up early on the first day of the attack, he's established a ping to send the alert out every few hours with the new updates, wanting to keep as many people informed as possible.]

ALERT: Please use caution! Zeta District is currently under attack. It is unknown if this assault has spread to other areas. The source is also unknown at this time. Enemies are known as adjutants. These creatures are slightly larger than the average human and have moderate strength barriers and armor. These creatures move slowly but are capable of jumping at least two meters. Pay attention to your surroundings! They have a distinctive cry but will go quiet and hide themselves to catch their targets off guard. Even if you are at a distance, they are able to shoot a long range blast of energy from one of their arms.

A safe house has been established. [coordinates provided by Shepard are shared here.] This location is currently unconfirmed for safety. Please respond if you are able to confirm its status. This location is confirmed for safety, but primary pathways may be blocked. If you are unable to reach the safe house, use any available resource to keep yourself safe. If your position is under threat, message your coordinates and help will be sent as soon as it is available.
