001 Video
My name is Xiahou Dun. I don't like idle chatter so I'll get straight to the point. I've noticed that there are quite a number of you who don't know how to fight so I'm offering to take on students and teach some basic fighting moves. If you require some proof of my proficiency in the martial arts, I would be more than willing to show you what I can do.
I ask for no fees. You need only bring dedication and a focused mind. Just don't waste my time.
[Private to Steve Rogers and Captain Kirahhe. Hackable.[]
I request a meeting. I have a proposition for you and I'd like you to consider it.
((OOC: If you'd like to hack the message, please contact me first!))

Alright, where do you want to meet?
Good. I'll be waiting here.
[Video->Action]
Thanks, I'll be along.
[Steve is glad this tool exists. Without it, he'd probably have wondered in circles by now. It won't take him too long with the omni-tool. He's relatively close and he glances around when goes inside, looking for the other man.]
Perma-Action
Thank you for coming.
[And he means it. Given how rocky their first encounter had been Dun is glad that Steve's giving him the benefit of the doubt.]
Please, take a seat.
[He extends a hand towards one of the chairs; he's not normally this polite but he's making a serious proposition and he owes a modicum of respect to Steve for entertaining him today. It's only when Steve sits that he does, and once they're settled in Dun cuts to the chase immediately.]
We may not have started on the right foot but we are both honest men, so I will not mince my words. Omega is a lawless land run by the corrupt and the powerful. And while some of us are capable of defending ourselves, there are others who lack the skills to survive.
I propose to start a district patrol, run by those like you and me who are trapped here. I do not trust the 'protection' that Aria or any of the other mercenaries offer us. I say that we need to look out for our own. But I cannot do this alone.
no subject
No problem.
[He slides his shield off and drops into the seat across from Dun. It's leaned against the side of the seat while he makes himself comfortable. Steve isn't sure what the man has in mind but at least he's not getting the feeling they're going to end up throwing fists at one another again.
Steve considers the proposition and weighs it with everything he knows.]
Do you really think Aria is going to let this slide? She has a lot of dangerous people under her control. I don't think we're going to get away with not paying her. [He would love not to but he has his team to think about here.] We could be a detail on top of it. That'd help too, I think.
no subject
[He takes a deep breath. It irritates him, but it's the truth.]
...it is what we owe her as tenants. I will not begrudge her what is rightfully hers.
But when it comes to the safety of us as a whole, I think it's already been proven that we are on our own. She locked us up in the same district with those blue monsters and I don't doubt she'll leave us to the wolves the next time there's an attack.
no subject
[A warning to stay away from them is not protection.]
Tax, rent, certainly seems like the same thing. If she actually owns the place, though I guess I don't see anyone challenging her for it. [He certainly isn't.]
The problem is going to be finding other people capable of handling not only themselves, but also protecting others. My team isn't in a good place for it right now.

[Steve likes to know who he's signing up with before he does it.]
no subject
There are a few others, but these four are those that I feel strongly about.
no subject
[Steve frowns, can those things even fight? They look like they would break in half like a twig. Of course, that'd never stopped him either so what is saying. He knows what Dun is capable of and if he thinks this Kirrahe can manage, he'll trust his judgment.]
I've met the other Shepard... the female one. I'm guessing his resume is pretty impressive too? [He doesn't recognize Mordin's name but he'll let it slide.] Who's the tech specialist?
no subject
For all he says that he likes to keep to himself, I'd say he knows nearly everyone of us who lives in the Zetta district.
no subject
Alright, fair enough. Just so we're clear, if it ends up that I need to know it, I'm not going to take no for an answer.
[Stubbornness thy name is Steve.]
no subject
Then that will be between you and him, should the time ever come. But rest assured; those that I have in mind are only those that I trust, and you can place your faith in that.
[We all know how hard it is for Dun to trust anyone.]
no subject
Works for me. I'll trust your judgment on this. Anything smells off and I'm out.
[You did attack him, Dun.
Steve does offer him a hand across the table.]
Otherwise, you've got yourself a deal.
no subject
Fate was truly leading him someplace strange.]
Deal.
[And Dun's face relaxes into his first genuine smile in a long time, relieved that the meeting had gone well. He's rough, but he's sincere and he's honest and he really wants to just make this thing work, for everyone's sake]
no subject
This is a good thing you're doing.
[Steve is happy to be part of it. It had felt weird not to be protecting people. This will give him a chance to do that again. His smile is reserved but genuine. He just tends to be a little too serious sometimes.]
no subject
[Dun's cocky when nothing's at stake, but when it does count and when he's actually doing something, he suddenly gets quite humble about it. He's really a man of paradox.
[Dun sends the coordinates over; it's a quieter one in a less busy area. Definitely no competition to the busy and popular Afterlife.]
I'd rather get this done and over quick. Can you come now?
Re: [VIDEO]
Certainly. I'm not too far from there right now, I shouldn't be longer than fifteen minutes.
Video --> Action
[And sure enough, Dun's sitting at a small table at the corner of the bar, an untouched glass of some unknown liquor in his hand while he keeps an eye on some of the rowdier customers of the bar. No one's hitting anyone just yet, but he's already prepared to act if things get violent.]
Action
I apologize if I kept you waiting long. I'm still in the process of familiarizing myself with this area.
Perma-Action
No apology needed; this meeting was called on such short notice. I thank you for making your way here so quickly.
[He is being extremely polite, by Dun's standards at any rate. His normal brusque approach to dealing with people can't really be applied in a situation where you're pitching a deal to someone.]
I don't believe in small talk, so I'll cut to the chase. I would like to start a District guard, and it would be a great honour for me to count you among the ranks. The guard would serve to defend residents of the Zetta District from threats, such as the one carried about by the blue monsters a few weeks ago.
Re: Perma-Action
I'd certainly be honored to be a part of it. The mercenaries are unreliable and we have far too many noncombatants. If we don't protect our own, I doubt anyone else would go out of their way to do so.
no subject
I know of others that we can trust; I'll get in touch with them and confirm their interest before I arrange meeting. There is much we have to discuss, but I'd say this is a successful first step.
no subject
I have a small number of trustworthy connections of my own that may be interested. I'll ask around and get back to you once I know where they stand.
no subject
[Actually, Kirrahe might've heard of a certain other salarian Dun's been visiting for his health checks.]
I don't suppose you know a salarian who goes by the name of Mordin Sollus? He owns a clinic on Omega.

[Colour him surprised.]
I wouldn't have thought him the type. But I agree on his trustworthiness and his medical skills.
[His healing ribs would attest to that.]

Judge not the horse by his saddle.
[Aka, don't judge a book by its cover.]
He would be an excellent addition to the guard, if we could win him.
no subject
I'll talk to him, see what I can do.

[Plus, he's a lot more sociable than Dun is and probably won't scare away all the volunteers.]
If it's alright with you, I'd like to make him the third leader of this watch, alongside with us.

[He passes Kirrahe the details over the omni-tool; it covers the basics of the watch, a list of places in the Zetta district that are highlighted as priority spots, and a few potential candidates. Basically, some of this information.]
It would honour me if you would read it and give me your opinions on how we can better this plan.
no subject
Off the top of my head, the only thing I can see as a priority is getting a hold of weapons. Commander Shepard and I are already working on a solution to this, it shouldn't be an issue for long.
no subject
We would also need someone to manage distribution and keep them under lock and care.
