My name is Xiahou Dun. I don't like idle chatter so I'll get straight to the point. I've noticed that there are quite a number of you who don't know how to fight so I'm offering to take on students and teach some basic fighting moves. If you require some proof of my proficiency in the martial arts, I would be more than willing to show you what I can do.

I ask for no fees. You need only bring dedication and a focused mind. Just don't waste my time.

I couldn't really say but you're right, it doesn't seem like she cared much about those creatures. Wasn't exactly a lot of protecting going on.

[A warning to stay away from them is not protection.]

Tax, rent, certainly seems like the same thing. If she actually owns the place, though I guess I don't see anyone challenging her for it. [He certainly isn't.]

The problem is going to be finding other people capable of handling not only themselves, but also protecting others. My team isn't in a good place for it right now.

I know of others who are capable and share a common interest in protecting those who cannot protect themselves, and I cannot wait for your team either; there is no telling when the next attack will strike.

[Steve likes to know who he's signing up with before he does it.]

A salarian who goes by the name of Kirrahe. I can personally vouch for his combat skills and his intentions. Another man who goes by the name of Shepard; I've seen him in action and we could use a man of his military calibre on our side. A second salarian named Mordin, a healer of great ability. And I have a tech specialist in mind; he's young, but his heart is in the right place and he's good with constructs and computers.

There are a few others, but these four are those that I feel strongly about.

Salarian, those are those tall skinny things.

[Steve frowns, can those things even fight? They look like they would break in half like a twig. Of course, that'd never stopped him either so what is saying. He knows what Dun is capable of and if he thinks this Kirrahe can manage, he'll trust his judgment.]

I've met the other Shepard... the female one. I'm guessing his resume is pretty impressive too? [He doesn't recognize Mordin's name but he'll let it slide.] Who's the tech specialist?

I'm not at liberty to share his name; he prefers privacy. But you may have already spoken to him on the shared communication platform.

For all he says that he likes to keep to himself, I'd say he knows nearly everyone of us who lives in the Zetta district.

[He frowns, it seems a little odd that he won't share his name when Steve's probably going to be working with him anyway but he's not going to press.]

Alright, fair enough. Just so we're clear, if it ends up that I need to know it, I'm not going to take no for an answer.

[Then Dun and Steve share a same name.]

Then that will be between you and him, should the time ever come. But rest assured; those that I have in mind are only those that I trust, and you can place your faith in that.

[We all know how hard it is for Dun to trust anyone.]

Works for me. I'll trust your judgment on this. Anything smells off and I'm out.

Steve does offer him a hand across the table.]

[It's funny; the last time Dun had grabbed Steve's hand they were having quite a serious go at each other. This time, they're shaking hands firmly, united over their desire to see some form of justice for Omega's Outsiders.

Fate was truly leading him someplace strange.]

Deal.

[And Dun's face relaxes into his first genuine smile in a long time, relieved that the meeting had gone well. He's rough, but he's sincere and he's honest and he really wants to just make this thing work, for everyone's sake]

[Strange doesn't even begin to cover the way Steve's life has taken him. He's looking at strange in the rear-view mirror. They all are.]

This is a good thing you're doing.

[Steve is happy to be part of it. It had felt weird not to be protecting people. This will give him a chance to do that again. His smile is reserved but genuine. He just tends to be a little too serious sometimes.]

It's nothing to boast about. It's just the right thing to do.

[Dun's cocky when nothing's at stake, but when it does count and when he's actually doing something, he suddenly gets quite humble about it. He's really a man of paradox.
