[ Hey what's up Omega, York is in the house. The last week and a half has been a bit of a rough adjustment, but hey, it's still better than living under the tyrannical reign of an unstable AI. Besides, York is good at adapting. She's pretty sure she would've gone crazy by now if she weren't. ]

Good morning, Omega. How's life treatin' all of you poor suckers? Hopefully you're, y'know, not dead by now.

[ She's relaxed, flippant as always, but seriously. Somebody has to have died by now. ]

For those of you I haven't met, you can call me York. I'm sure you've all shacked up someplace by now -- and if you haven't, I'd get on that, 'cause I hear the streets aren't the coziest place to hole up for the night. Anyway, in case you haven't noticed by now, this isn't exactly the friendliest place. Lockin' your doors at night might not be enough to keep you and all your stuff safe. Dunno if you noticed, but the basic security on these places is a little flimsy.

But hey, security is kinda what I do. And if you're lookin' to sleep a little easier at night, I can probably help you out. Y'know, beef up your security a little, set up a system that any enterprising fifteen-year-old with an omni-tool can't break. Can't exactly do it for free, but if you're a little short on credits, I'm sure we can work somethin' out.

[ Okay, okay, she's really better at breaking security than building it, but hey, it works. ]

[ She says it flippantly, smirking a little, because what's he gonna do if it's not, put her in time-out? ]

[He does give her a smile, though.]

How're you settling in?

Ah, like you're ever happy.

[ You are so not easy to please, Garrus. Good thing York's not too fussed either way.

She shrugs, nodding in a vague gesture to the mostly bare apartment around her. ]

We're all right. Me'n my buddy Wash, I mean. He's, uh -- he's from back home. Uh -- sorta. Same place, different timeline. We were on Sacrosanct together.

We've got ourselves set up, and the place is secure, but it could use a little redecoration. Hopin' I can make a little extra cash, get ourselves a few upgrades, you know?

[ Because she's been eyeing that sleek armor you guys all wear around here, and she is so ready to trade her bulky armor in for something a little more streamlined. Not that it doesn't have its uses -- she can pack a hell of a punch -- but it's not the best thing for infiltration work, either. ]

That's gonna take you a while. There's no short supply of 'upgrades' on Omega, but if you want anything that some vorcha didn't strip off some dead grunt in an alley, you're gonna have to save up.

[A pause. This... this is one pill he knew he was going to have to swallow, but really wasn't looking forward to]

By the way, about that Sacrosanct stuff? I, uh, owe you one hell of an apology.

Hey, I didn't figure it was gonna come cheap. I'm hopin' to get a little bit of a leg up with this security gig.

[ Until she can get a better job, anyhow. She's not too keen on signing up with the mercs -- not so much with the moral conflict, but more that she's not sure she wants to be swearing allegiance to any crooked-toothed strangers right now.

At his second comment, though, York's face splits into the most perfect example of a shit-eating grin. The truth is, she doesn't really hold it against him at all, but that doesn't mean she's going to make it easy for him. ]

I'm listening.

[SIGH!!!}

[And in a perfect monotone:]

I'm sorry for calling you crazy.

[ and you can bet York is savoring every single word, Garrus. ]

Man, I don't think "I told you so" has ever been so satisfying.

So hey, since I'm not crazy anymore, guess you don't have to worry so much about me flyin' off the handle.

[ She rolls her eyes exaggeratedly at Garrus, though it looks like it's mostly in good humor. ]

[ okay even York can't hold a straight face for that long, and she can't help but grin ]

Wash, huh? Maybe I will.

[Garrus will match the grin with one of his own, though. He always appreciates some banter!]

So, did you get any business yet?

On second thought, I don't know if I need you two buddyin' up after all.

[ Garrus plus Wash? Ye gods, it'd be like double-time henpecking. Somehow she doesn't doubt they'd get along. ]

Some, some. Y'know, still gettin' off the ground and everything. Paranoia's great for the economy, though, I gotta tell ya.

You'll get no shortage of that around here.

Be careful, though-- the ones that are really paranoid will probably drill you to make sure you're not selling them false services.

Guess it's a good thing I'm legit then, huh?

[ And she is! She is selling actual security, of course. And pretty decent, for the price. She just might have left in a way or two for her to exploit it later. Sshhhh. ]
