[So. Those monkeys have been okay to deal with so far, other than the fact that they keep trying to steal his rings. They were easy enough to get rid of and Haruto's been dealing with the water issue, even though he's not all that thrilled about it. At the very least, he hasn't had a need to use his magic very much, so he hasn't needed to track down an excessive amount of food to refill his mana.

When the video starts, he's looking just as positive as ever. Really, does nothing bother this guy? At least he seems to have the video function figured out now, the residential district visible behind him.]

Water problems, monkey problems, now dog problems. I appreciate the chance to learn about foreign wildlife, but I think there's safer ways to go about introducing the general populace.

[He slings a gun... sword... gunsword? swordgun? over his shoulder with his free hand, giving a warm smile.]

Anyway, now is as good a time as any. If anyone needs help with anything, just come to me with it. Doesn't need to be exterminating services or dowsing for water, but I don't have anything better to do and I'd rather make myself useful. In the meantime, I'm going to be getting rid of all these pests before they hurt someone. Come say hi if you see me around.

[ The guy offering to help with pest extermination or water is great, it's very noble and all, but Stiles has a one track mind that is currently, ahem, tracking that sword-gun-hybrid.

[Haruto spins the WizarSwordGun in his hand at the mention of it, flashing a grin.]

You'd have to be from my world, control a creature that wants to kill you, survive a few hellish experiences, and then know the right people. It is pretty cool looking, though.

[As it's currently in gun mode, Haruto moves the camera while he uses both hands, switching it over to sword mode before showing it on the screen again.]

[ Stiles has at least two of those details ticked off - he's survived a few hellish experiences and has survived a creature wanting to kill him. He's not sure about controlling or knowing the right people.

So he makes a face into the camera. ]

So what you're saying is, I'm pretty much out of dice, here.

[ Man, that looked so much more effective than one of the assault rifles. The sword makes him let out a low breath that sounds like duuude. ]

I am majorly envious right now. Like, I should be green, then I'd at least blend in.

[Haruto's bit happens to be the fact that he has a creature giving him powers that also wants to kill him, but no creature, no powers. The fun part is that it gets to live inside of him and he's in a constant struggle to control it. No big deal.]

Maa, ne. Something like that. Mine's the only one I've ever seen.

Humans don't seem to be too bad at fitting in. I think this place is starting to accept that we've been dumped here.

Tolerance ain't acceptance. And I'm pretty sure that's what we've got here, since the four-eyed guys still look like they want to eat my throat.

[ No, Stiles, that's just how Batarians are. ]

So I guess it's back to looking for a way to defend myself that doesn't involve screaming.

I don't think humans in general are accepted by everyone, but at least we're not a completely foreign species. They didn't kill us upon arrival, so I'm thankful for that. [not that Dragon would let him die, but...]

[ Oh, context. ] Yeah, getting killed? Kind of high up there on my list of things to avoid.

[ He glances around. ]

Not really? I'm pretty fast, I've mostly been outrunning the monkeys and the varren.

Well, as long as your energy level holds up, I guess you'll do just fine. Just remember how outnumbered you are. If one gets tired of chasing you, another one might pick up where they left off.

I'm not exactly leaving the house much. I mean, when I'm working on fixing the place up, we've got mercs around. Otherwise we're staying inside, I don't exactly want to test Stilinski stamina versus monkey-massacring dogs.

Do you trust those guys? [because i don't.]

I don't have a very good feeling about all of this stuff happening. I think there's something else to it. So if you run into anything you can't handle, send me a message and I'll bail you out.

There's usually a reason for it. I'm not exactly looking for answers but my head isn't in the sand either.

[ Bail him out! Hah. Except the guy has a weapon, and Stiles doesn't, so, grudgingly, ] Yeah, if I need help I'll give you a call. Who am I calling?

Souma Haruto. Nice to meet you. [he gives a half-salute with the hand still holding the gun, then hesitates a bit, realizing the way he introduced himself is probably not what the other is used to.] My first name is Haruto. You can pretty much call me whatever you want, as long as you keep it nice.

[also, that gun isn't the only shiny thing he's capable of wielding. ~magic~]

[ Stiles tilts his head when the other clarifies his first name is Haruto. It helps. ]

Cool, Haruto. I'm Stiles - just Stiles, so no need to worry about last names. [ Technically that is his last name, at least in part. ] Good to meet you under the circumstances, which I hope don't get any worse.

[ Stiles hasn't seen the magic. ~~Not yet, anyway~~. ]

Stiles? [he repeats this just to try to remember it. there's way too many strangers he's met in passing since arriving and he doesn't want to forget anyone.]

Even if things get bad, hold on to your hope. That's what can get you through anything. [the man talks from experience. his entire existence and belief system is based on hope. fortunately, there are no Gates here -- at least that he's aware of -- and nor are there Phantoms, so he doesn't have to worry about people turning into monsters. hopefully.]

Yeah, Stiles.

[ Haruto's words actually make Stiles pause, for a moment. They're so reminiscent of something the counselor has said to him - ]

If you're going through hell, keep going?

[ It makes Stiles laugh, a small tinge of bitterness. ] Don't worry, I have experience with that. No problemo, my friend.

[haruto hesitates, then smiles warmly in response.]

I really like that.

[the hint of awkward tone doesn't escape his notice.] Everyone does, to some extent. Some of us, more than others. Maybe you could tell me about it sometime.

[he tries to keep that comment as light and casual sounding as possible. it really isn't an attempt to psychoanalyze the other, but he's always looking out to help anyone. and bonding over horrible pasts wouldn't be too bad.]

[ Some people might not get it, and it makes Stiles smile a small bit more, a little more genuine. ]

Maybe. It's a pretty weird story, but maybe you'll think it's interesting.

[ He still wants to keep the werewolf thing close to his chest, not reveal other people's secrets. But the kidnapping, the other things - maybe. ]
