If this magic works the way it was described, somebody should be able to hear me right now. [though the voice of the young lady that's coming through sounds incredibly skeptical about this entire endeavor.] If you can, and you can actually understand me, I want you to tell me whether 8,000 "creds" is a lot of money around here, and what I can do to get it. I can't believe your merchants don't take something as simple as gold for war supplies.

[there's ambient noise for a while, and some confused sounds from somebody who has obviously never seen, much less used, an omni-tool before. eventually she groans in exasperation.]

My sword's been stolen from me and you expect me to do repairs to survive. This is entirely unacceptable.

Of course I've heard of a gun before. ["earlier today" counts as before, right?] I already have somebody offering to buy me one.

I've been getting the same reactions, really. There's a few magic users here, but not as many as you might expect.

[Granted, he's one of about three magic users from where he comes from, so it's not all that common for him.]

Something like that. I think it's an asteroid rather than a planet. Lots of different aliens here. A lot of them aren't too friendly, so you might want to be careful about that.

[Maybe approach this carefully, as she seems to be trying for tact.]

But it seems like swordsmanship is your specialty. Do you require assistance to brush up on the skills for a gun?

I've already run into one with four eyes and one with enormous teeth, and neither of them seemed to like me very much. I don't understand why. If we're just going to be hated by everyone here on this... "asteroid" [no finger quotes this time, but damned if she doesn't look more confused than ever] then why bother bringing us here in the first place? Has anyone figured out why we're here? I can't imagine Naga struck a deal with all of you.

I can figure it out on my own, thank you very much.

[no, she can't, but she doesn't know that yet. nice as this guy might seem, she still doesn't actually have the gun she'd been promised, and it's a bad idea to open up too much when you're actually defenseless.]

If something on it breaks, I'll remember you, but I know how to attack with a gun. [that's the right way to phrase it, isn't it?]

...Shoot with a gun, you mean? [Starscream's now so worried she's going to shoot herself in the foot or worse or hit a passerby.]

[she's learning! she messes with a few buttons and in a matter of seconds her video feed starts and her face shows up.]

Ah, now...you've encountered creatures that seem strange to you already, yes? Such as that four-eyed being? Not that I have four eyes, but I'm not as...human looking, as you. Just letting you know, so you won't be startled if you come around looking for repairs.

[Switch to video. Have a metal figure with wings and no nose and glowing eyes.]

I've never heard of a Naga. What type of creature or person is it?

No one really knows why we're here. I've just been trying to make the best of it. If you want some help getting around, I'm good for that.

So there is. [she hits it; if she did it right, Marco should know exactly where she is. it's a phenomenally stupid idea, but she's really hungry right now.] I sent it out. And by the way, I have a name. Don't call me babe.

[she's, well, shocked into silence when his image pops up. she has absolutely no idea what she's looking at. if this is armor, it's far more advanced and streamlined than anything she's ever seen. but it doesn't even look like that! where are the seams? throwing tact to the wind, she sputters out a question.]

Naga is a Goddess, of course. She's the one who brought me back in time in the first place. So this... can't be her doing. Fantastic.

I think I'm getting the hang of this place. Probably. It's not hard, it's just new. You don't have to show me around or anything. Maybe you can just tell me what an asteroid is.

Are you familiar with robots? Automatons? Golems? They all seem to mean roughly the same creature in the human cultures I'm familiar with, and that's essentially what I am, though while most of them were created, I was born, the same as the rest of my kind.

[Shrug.]

I believe the simplest way of putting it is that I'm a creature made of metal and wire, rather than flesh and bone. Does that answer your question?

It's a giant rock that floats around in space, pretty much. Like a planet that isn't supposed to support life, but the people here forced it to work for them.

Get used to it. Everyone starts with repair work. But so long as you do not slack you will survive.

You mentioned a sword. How good are you?

Not remotely. But I doubt I'll get a more comprehensible explanation from anyone. So you're constructed of the same thing that this entire "station" is made of? Does that mean that you understand how it works better than others?

So nothing here is even natural? Hmph. Great. [she crosses her arms defiantly, apparently forgetting that her omni-tool is attached to one of them.] Did it ever occur to anyone that nothing was supposed to live here for a reason?

It won't take him long to get to her location ping, whistling to himself as he strolls across Zeta District with a pizza delivery bag slung over his shoulder. Of course, he doesn't actually know who he's looking for. Then again, it shouldn't be that hard: new, female, probably sticks out like a sore thumb. He hasn't been here long, but he's already forgetting what it's like to be the new kid.

He's not being too casual, either, despite acting as full-on stupid horny teenager mode. Under the delivery boy jacket is light body armor, a pistol tucked inside. This is at least 50% scoping out the newbie. If she's actually cool? Hope she's ready for more Marco love. ]

[Severa's using much the same context clues to pick out Marco, though of course she's much less armed than he is. whenever she sees another human while she's waiting, she perks up a little, pushing off the wall she's leaning against for a second or two, but when there's no response she just goes back to waiting.]

[until, of course, she sees a guy wearing a jacket that almost entirely does not match her mental image of a delivery boy. she takes another chance and pushes off the wall again, this time actually deigning to talk to someone. she forces herself to sound as sweet as possible, and even uncrosses her arms and makes herself nonconfrontational, since her charms are her only natural defense right now.]

You wouldn't happen to be Marco, would you?
